I apologise for having to charge higher P&P on resin casting materials, the fact is they are much much heavier items than the rest of my product range and I am not always recovering all the postal costs with the P&P charges shown. Note that if you order two or more heavy items these may be shipped seperately to minimise postage costs *Note: Stock status is shown as 'IN STOCK', or 'OUT OF STOCK'. YOU MAY STILL ORDER OUT OF STOCK ITEMS as I normally reorder within a few days. Generally if you order items marked 'OUT OF STOCK' you will receive them in 7-10 working days. | Introduction The Alumilite range of products includes everything you need to make moulds and castings in urethane resin. The result is a non-toxic lightweight plastic intended for restoration, craft and modelling purposes with an emphesis on ease of use and high quality results. The Mini casting kit is a good low-cost way to start and a full range of supporting items are also available including dyes to give coloured mouldings and metallic powders to give a faux metal outcome. Please see my article for an introduction to resin casting. Also see below for a suggested list of items for the beginner. I been a hobby caster for several years. I can offer practical advise on your casting projects, how to go about them, what materials to use, where to split your mould etc. Please feel free to email me to enquire about the use of the various materials shown on this page and your ideas for casting projects without any obligation. I generally have everything in stock but also report my stock status on this page - to put it simply if it says I have it in stock then I do (*see note below) and if I don't I can get it within a week. |

You should read the M.S.D.S. for each product before using it. Generally the advice is "Don't eat it/drink it or get it in your eyes'' and for most products "don't allow prolonged skin contact". | A note about resin colour & type and rubber options: Several different Alumilite resins are avalable: Standard & 'Amazing' resins are rigid, opaque and have a solid (non-foam) structure when set. Use for all smaller castings and castings with any small cross-sectional areas. Natural & 'Amazing' - Set a light beige (tan) colour. Use with dyes if necessary for all colours other than white. White - Sets bright white. Use only where white or with dyes where very close to white is required. Black - Use if you are doing a lot of black casting; popular for some hobbies as a time saving device. Clear - Sets clear. Use for clear or with dyes for coloured translucent mouldings. Foam - Sets in a similar colour to natural but with a rigid foam structure 10 x the volume mixed. Use for larger castings with no small cross-sectional areas. Flex 80 - sets black with a solid (non-foam) but flexible structure. Use for applications requiring flexibility like model vehicle tyres. Two different mould rubbers are available: Quick set rubber - use for convenience and economy where low numbers of castings are needed and/or shapes are not significantly undercut. HS3 rubber - use when shapes are more undercut and/or numbers of castings needed is greater. Note sets significantly slower than 'Quick set' |
