This is a scale model of 'The Major' which is in preservation at the
Amberley Industrial Museum in West Sussex, UK. The loco in
preservation can be seen in the prototype photos below which are
provided to assist detailing and painting. The kit is includes the UK
importers plates and 'The Major' name and number plates, and also
optional O&K maker's plates which facilitate the modelling of locos
supplied by O&K to other countries. This type of loco is to be found
widely throughout Europe but especially in Germany and its neighbours.
It is a very small industrial locos and one of the smallest operating
model locomotives available in 4mm scale, possibly the smallest. The
chassis makes use of a friction drive in addition to the more
conventional worm drives and has a high reduction ratio - over 75:1 -
from motor to wheels. The loco runs very quietly and smoothly and is
perfectly happy on various types of track including PECO (tm) and other
standard commercial offerings, even Egger.
